iPhone Photography Apps
There are so many apps for photography in the App store. I’ve been on a binge testing them out to find the best and most unique results. So far my favourite apps are the VSCO Cam, Camera+, Over app and Mextures. I’ll show you examples of each and tips and ideas for you to use.
I adore this iPhone app. The results are fabulous and so easy to achieve. The app is free and available in Itunes. The filters are unique and can turn any photo into a professional artistic image. I love the low contrast filters that give your photo a muted matte look. You also have the option to buy extra filters which are offered as in-app purchases. Search for the #VSCO hashtag in instagram to see fabulous examples using this app.
When you use the in-app camera you can separate exposure and focus to give you added control over your photography. Camera+ gives SLR functionality to the iPhone camera by giving options to control exposure, focus and much more. It has dozen effects for you to edit your photos right on your phone including grunge, vintage, retro and lighting effects. I used the tilt-shift option in the first photo above and light-leak effects in the ice-cream image.
Camera+ is available in the App Store for $1.99 or €1.79
Add beautiful text to your photos. Add art, different fonts and your own texts with Over App. Quick and easy to use and there are loads of options for you to be creative:) “Create adventures for yourself” is one of the options for you to place on your photos. The ‘Rainbow’ one is another pre-made text art for you to insert. I duplicated it to create a drop shadow for my photo. And yes, ‘Blueberry dreams’ was my own text because only I could mix up Blueberries and Blackberries 😀
Find Over at the App Store for $0.99 or €0.89.
Mexture gives you textures for your photos with light leaks, retro and vintage film effects, grunge and gradients. There are over 70 for you to choose from. Mextures gives you the option control the opacity of each layer and texture, as well as offering 12 different blend modes. It gives you loads of creative control and also offers ‘formulas’ which have been created by photographers for the Mextures App. It is a very good alternative to Photoshop right on your phone.
